Authorities of Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria have been challenged to ensure that professionals with proven record of integrity are recruited into their Students’ Affairs’ Division to produce ideal graduates for national development.
A Youth development Coach and Journalist, Mr Oyewumi Agunbiade gave the challenge while delivering a lecture at Students’ Orientation programme at The Redeemer’s University, Ede, Osun state.
Oye Agunbiade who described the Students Affairs’ Division as an all-important Unit of any University, said lack of adequate funding for programmes and intimate relationship with students were part of the reasons for proliferation of social vices like cultism, drug addiction and disrespect in the nation’s tertiary institutions.
Agunbiade who called for immediate review of the mandate of Students’ Affairs unit of all Tertiary institutions in the country in view of emerging realities wanted the unit be made approachable with regards to the quality of professionals in the unit for students to achieve optimum interaction and development.
He however challenged the students to make hard work a priority and never hesitate to report to authorities any act capable of truncating their main purpose on the campus.
In a remark, the Deputy Vice Chancellor of Redeemers University, Professor Kayode Adekeye, who said all was set for uninterrupted Academic programme, added that the institution was poised to producing graduates who would not only bridge the gap in the nation’s back flip development but would also stand the nation tall in global reckoning.
